Plymouth Runs for C.A.D.E.

A few members from our Plymouth, MN office recently participated in the Children with Autism Deserve Education (C.A.D.E.) 5K race. They’ve participated in this charity race for many years to support families in Minnesota with children affected by Autism. C.A.D.E. is an organization that helps fund education for autistic children that don’t have the means to obtain it. The event proceeds went to fund grants for children in the Twin Cities to access ABA/VB therapy education. With support from the Charitable Trust, the group was able to contribute their athleticism and enthusiasm for this important cause. Great job team!

Helping Our Furry Friends

Over the last few weeks, our Canton office went above and beyond for our furry friends. They held a pet supply drive benefiting the Animal Rescue League shelter in Dedham, MA. Over 450 items were donated to the shelter helping animals in need. Donated supplies ranged from everyday supplies, such as towels and blankets, to dog, cat and small animal-specific supplies. These contributions go a long way in helping animals in need. In 2017, the Animal Rescue League was able to help over 18,000 animals.

The animals weren’t the only ones getting a treat. Because they reached their goal of collected items, the office celebrated with a pizza party!

Teeing Up for Charity

OneBeacon Technology’s Nathan Martin and Laurin Thompson recently volunteered at the 14th annual J. Smith Lanier’s Charity Classic in Braselton, GA.  With support from the Charitable Trust, OneBeacon was a ‘Contest Sponsor’ for this event. The tournament benefited the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, specifically providing financial and emotional support to families who have a child affected with a brain tumor.

J. Smith Lanier, a Marsh & McLennan Agency, is a key partner of our Southern-based Technology team. We are always excited to give back to the community and support our partners like JSL.

March for Babies

IT’s Chris Arnold recently participated in his 5th March for Babies walk/run in Hartford, CT! Chris marched with his wife and son—otherwise known as team “Rileigh’s Rockin’ Walkers.” March of Dimes is a nonprofit organization that leads the fight for the health and safety of mothers and babies. They believe every baby deserves the best possible start to life.

With a donation from the Charitable Trust, Chris’ team raised $400 for this wonderful cause. They even ended the day with a big win—they won the Stroller Division! Great job Chris and team!

Nothing But Net in Farmington

Connecticut loves college basketball. To show its support for the game, the Farmington office recently hosted its third “March Madness” fundraiser. Once the Men’s NCAA basketball playoff brackets were set, they were distributed to all employees to fill out. To make it a bit more enticing and competitive, a $5 charitable donation was suggested (but not required) for each bracket entry. The person with the best bracket at the end of the tournament could decide which charity would receive the donated funds.

This year, there were 31 brackets filled out, raising $190. Although many brackets were “busted” early on, Lisa Campbell held on to be crowned the winner. During the office celebration, she announced she chose to support My Sister’s Place. My Sister’s Place is a local not-for-profit committed to ending homelessness by empowering women, families and others in greater Hartford (CT) to achieve independence and stability in their community by providing housing and supportive services.

Congratulations Lisa, and nice slam dunk Farmington!

IICF’s Swing for the Green

Last month, International Marine Underwriters’ Taylor Boyd and Jana Hawkins attended the IICF’s Annual Swing for the Green Charity Challenge! It was a great day for golf in Scottsdale, AZ where the event was held. As a result from their participation, along with sponsorship from the OneBeacon Charitable Trust, the event raised $32,000. Funds benefited the IICF Community Grants Program, which helps local nonprofits supporting education, children at risk and human services. Kudos to the IMU team!

Denver Serves the Rockies

Eighteen members of the Denver OneBeacon team enjoyed serving their community earlier this month at the Food Bank of the Rockies. During their time at the Food Bank, they worked together to sort and box items. The group chose the Food Bank because of the impact they have on the community. The organization serves 30 counties in Colorado and the entire state of Wyoming, helping nearly half a million people each year. Our Denver teammates are very passionate about this cause, and they look forward to going back to volunteer later this year. Great work!
