Shaving for a Cure

Guest post by OneBeacon Government Risks’ Brian Latimer

Once again, my San Antonio colleague Christina Phelan, along with her husband, Dave, and son, Aidan, and I were proud to participate in the annual St. Baldrick’s Shave For A Cure.  While this was my third year to participate, Dave and Aidan marked this up as year number 4!

While representing Team DylanStrong, our team of 8 was able to raise over $8,500 for the cause, including another very generous contribution from the OneBeacon Charitable Trust.  The team was formed to help garner support and recognition in honor of 11-year old Dylan Vega (soccer-mate of Aidan’s) who is thankfully in remission from Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. (In the group photo Dylan is the one WITH hair!)  Overall, this San Antonio event will be very close to hitting it’s $100,001 goal and will help St. Baldrick’s hit over $30,000,000 nationally – all of which is dedicated to funding research for a cure for juvenile cancer, which sadly is one of the most underfunded of all cancer research.

Thanks to generous donors, volunteers and organizations like OneBeacon, St. Baldrick’s can continue to fight for our kids!
