Spreading Holiday Cheer to Those Who Are Near

The holiday season is one of giving, and that has truly been the case with OneBeacon offices across the country. Employees from Phoenix to Boston teamed up to support local nonprofit organizations that mean the most to them. In addition to  employee efforts, the OneBeacon Charitable Trust has donated over $50,000 in support of various nonprofits chosen by offices, along with $10,000 being allocated through the OneBeacon holiday e-card. Read on to learn more about some of the organizations we supported this season.

San Antonio Children’s Shelter: The OneBeacon Government Risks team in the  San Antonio office coordinated a drive to collect fun toys and personal care items for kids under the care of the local San Antonio Children’s Shelter. They adorned their  office tree with “angels” that contained a child’s name, age, sizes and interests. The office was able to donate a Jeep full of toys and hopefully bring lots of joy to kids this holiday season.

The Village for Families and Children and South Park Inn: Farmington employees collected, wrapped and delivered 20 gifts to The Village for Families and Children, a nonprofit that provides housing for at-risk children and families in the Greater Hartford region. They also collected and delivered several boxes of sweatshirts, hats, gloves and personal care items to South Park Inn, a homeless shelter in Hartford, CT.

Pine Street Inn: Our Boston employees volunteer at this urban homeless shelter throughout the year. Their charitable efforts continued with an office-wide donation drive to benefit those transitioning into new housing. The supply drive was augmented by a donation from the OneBeacon Charitable Trust.

Toys for Tots: Both our Plymouth, MN and Canton, MA teams collected nearly 350 toys for less fortunate children in their communities through the U.S. Marine Corps annual Toys for Tots drive.

St. Mary’s Food Bank: The OneBeacon Charitable Trust provided a donation to this food bank on behalf of the Phoenix office. The gift will provide 8,750 meals for individuals and families struggling with hunger during the holidays and beyond.

SoCal Firefighters and Marie Corps Reserve Spark of Love Toy Drive: The OneBeacon Entertainment team donated toys to this worthy organization. Over the past two decades, Spark of Love has successfully collected over 8 million new toys and sports equipment for underserved children and teens in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Orange, Ventura and Riverside counties.

Create Inspiring Youth for a Better Tomorrow: The Anaheim office chose their beneficiary to be this non profit based in Orange, CA, which services homeless children by providing educational opportunities and essential services. They specifically focus on a local K-8th elementary and middle school, which serves primarily homeless children who are desperately in need of extra support.

The photos below show the offices’ efforts in action!
